Holmenkollen FIS 11.-12.3.2017

Norway and Holmenkollen are legendary places for cross country skiers. Many of them has a dream to win 50 k in there.
Visit Oslo (click the picture, if you want see video)

Facts about the venue
Holmenkollen National Ski arena is one of Norway's most visited tourist attractions.
Since 1892 the arena has hosted competitions in Nordic skiing. In 2011 the FIS World
Championships Nordic took place in the venue, and in February 2016 Holmenkollen was
the host for the IBU World Championships Biathlon.

The entire ski jump and arena was rebuilt before the FIS World Championships Nordic in
2011. The ski jump was designed by the Danish firm JDS Architects. Their design brings
together all the amenities contained in the jump: rather than having a series of dispersed
pavilions, everything from the judge's booths and the Royal family to the souvenir shop
and the entrance to the museum are contained in one holistic diagram.
The jump is made out of 1000 tons of steel and raises about 60 meters in the air. The
top is cut horizontally to accommodate a viewing platform with a panoramic view of Oslo
and surrounding areas.

Norja ja Holmenkollen ovat legendaarisia paikkoja maastohiihtäjille. Monet heistä uneksivat 50 km hiihdon voitosta juuri siellä. Joidenkin mielestä se on juuri se kuninkuusmatka.

Holmenkollenin hiihtoareena on Norjan suosituimpia turistinähtävyyksiä. Siellä on kilpailtu vuodesta 1892 asti hiihdossa. Vuonna 2011 areenalla järjestettiin maailmanmestaruuskilpailut ja 2016 ampumahiihdoon MM-kilpailut.

Program / Ohjelma

In Program there also Ski Jumping and Compined, but in cross country only mass start long distance competitions with Classic style 30 km W and 50 km M.

The third period of season will be opened in Otepää Estonia. Tehvandi Ski Stadium is situated in Otepää approximately 225 km from Tallinn, the Capital of Estonia and 42 km from Tartu, the second largest city in Estonia.

Athletes has been made their finishing in different ways. Some of skiers have been in high altitude and some of them have stayed in normal altitude. Before Lahti the last WC weekend will be in Otepää, which might be also last change to show ones capacity for team leaders to get place.
It will be also interesting to see how well athletes will perform.

Kauden kolmas periodi alkaa Otepäässä Virossa. Tehvandin stadion sijaitsee n. 225 km Tallinnasta kaakkoon lähellä 43 km:n päässä on Viron toiseksi suurin kaupunki Tarto.

A small town nestled in southern Estonian hills and valleys, Otepää is a well-known winter holiday destination for all those who love the snow. Otepää is the heart of the touristic area surrounding it and the best known center of winter sports in the Baltic States.

The Tehvandi Sport Center, where the FIS Cross-Country World Cup weekend is held, is recognized as a training area all year round among high level sportsmen. The wellkept cross-country ski tracks certified by FIS, ski stadium complex, shooting range for biathlonists, K90 ski jump hill, and smaller ski hills offer opportunities for serious training.

The main services by Tehvandi Sport Center are offering year-round training opportunities for athletes and amateurs, organizing competitions, accommodation and catering. Tehvandi is also a suitable place to spend an active and sporty vacation.

Tour de Ski Prize Money, palkintorahat

The great prize money intrigued many competitors to participate in the Tour in the early years (2006-2007). The new cross country tours prizes were inspired by the ones given at the Middle Europes ski jumping tour.

The first tour ever was won by the finnish Virpi Kuitunen and in mens class german Tobias Angerer.

Tourilla menestyville hiihtäjille reilu viikon kilpailukierros tuo sievoisen tulon voittaja päässee helposti reilun 100 000 CHF:n tuloille. Kolmanneksi sijoittunut tienaa vielä todennäköisesti noin 40 000 CHF:n tulot.
